One Community Approach

Our One Community Approach Focuses on ‘Promotion, Awareness, and Strengthening Skills’

Wild Welfare US’ ‘One Community’ approach inspires a collaborative, compassionate approach to innovative actions that improve welfare practices and policies for wild animals in captivity. By developing strong working relationships with animal welfare groups and the facilities where animals reside, we can make the most impact. Animal welfare organizations and the accredited zoo, aquarium and sanctuary communities all support action towards the very highest welfare standards and practice for animals in captivity.

We’re creating a united body of experts and resources – together we are tackling some of the most challenging welfare issues facing captive wild animals around the world. We believe that the long-term solutions to these welfare issues are best found through positive dialogue and action.

We recognize that every animal care facility is different, and will have a range of available expertise and resources. Therefore our team promotes ambitious but achievable strategies to improve care and welfare including immediate changes to animal care practices and capacity building to pave the way for lasting change.

The challenge of improving welfare in the world’s worst wild facilities is daunting, but with the synergistic strength of the animal welfare, zoological/aquarium, and sanctuary communities, we are helping to change minds, attitudes and practices that will make a positive difference to the welfare of thousands of wild animals living in captivity around the world.
